Testing facilities

Rymel has testing facilities to run tests on electrical equipment, with adequate spaces for testing equipment and qualified personnel, to ensure the different tests that guarantee the technical characteristics and Top quality of the equipment.

The main laboratory has a special test bench, which includes an electronic converter, a capacitor bank, and a high-accuracy analyzer, which are used to perform no-load loss measurement and load loss measurement in transformers.

In addition, the main laboratory also has top-of-the-line portable equipment for measuring the different electrical parameters such as winding resistance, insulation resistance, transformation ratio, phase shift, frequency response curve, and temperature rises during operation under load, among others.

We also have the following lab equipment

 High voltage laboratory, which allows us to carry out tests of applied potential and induced potential, up to a level of 100 kV.

 Lightning impulse laboratory with levels up to 400 kV, in which impulse waves are captured through a special high-speed digital oscilloscope.

 Laboratory for the measurement of noise in transformers, which has a soundproof cabin and a type A noise meter.

 Laboratory for the measurement of partial discharges in electrical equipment, which has a shielded enclosure and a high-sensitivity partial discharge meter.

 Laboratory for the measurement of accuracy in instrument transformers, which has specialized equipment to measure the accuracy class in both current transformers and voltage transformers.

 Laboratory for physical-chemical tests of the insulating liquid, which has specialized equipment to measure the moisture content, the interfacial tension, the dielectric rigidity and the color in the dielectric oil

Rynova Research Group

The Rynova research group was created in January 2014 with the endorsement of the company Rymel SAS, with the aim of promoting the generation of innovative ideas that can be transformed into research, development, and innovation projects for the electricity sector.

Since its creation, the group has carried out research, development, and innovation activities in collaboration with Universities, Institutes, and Technological Centers, supporting the National System of Science, Technology, and Innovation (SNCTI).

His research interests cover the design, diagnosis, and modeling of transformers and electrical equipment, equipment testing for medium voltage lines, and the design of devices for measurement and protection, as well as the improvement of production processes.

Rynova has three full-time professionals: a professional in Electrical Engineering with a Doctorate degree, recognized by Colciencias as Associate Researcher, a professional in Electronic Engineering with a Doctorate degree, and a professional in Industrial Engineering with a degree specializing in project management. It also has the support of Rymel SAS departments and professionals in different areas.

Additionally, the group has at its disposal laboratories to carry out tests for the measurement of partial discharges, lightning impulse tests, applied and induced voltage tests, measurement of losses in electrical equipment, measurement of accuracy in instrument transformers, measurement of response in the frequency of transformers and different equipment to measure electrical parameters and variables. Production plant and processes

Rymel has some collaborators who participate in training and development programs, aimed at strengthening their capacities in innovation, sustainability, leadership, integral performance, and digital skills, we also have a physical plant of 41 thousand square meters located in the municipality of Copacabana Antioquia. Today we can produce single-phase transformers from 0.5 kVA to 1,500 kVA and three-phase transformers from 15 kVA to 10,000 kVA. We also have a manufacturing line for class F and class H dry transformers, with powers from 1 kVA to 3000 kVA in series up to 36 kV. In addition, we manufacture potential and current transformers for measurement applications, we also manufacture special equipment for the electrical sector according to the needs of our clients, such as submersible transformers and control boxes. Additionally, we sell conventional type energy meters and AMI type smart meters; and we offer the service of design and installation of photovoltaic solar plants.

  • Winding Area

    In this area, we have specialized machines for the manufacture of transformer windings, which work with strip conductors for the manufacture of the low voltage winding and with round or rectangular conductors with coatings, for the manufacture of the high voltage windings. Our winding machines have automatic tension and alignment control, which guarantees adequate compaction of the winding, improving the transmission of heat produced by losses during its operation.

  • Core Area

    In this area, the cores of the transformers are manufactured, using special magnetic plates with very low losses. We use Unicore type technology for forming the cores, this type of configuration allows us to significantly reduce the weight and dimensions of the cores. In addition, we have the technology for the manufacture of the stacked type cores, using the superimposed Step-Lap type assembly, which allows for reducing losses and obtaining high-efficiency equipment.

  • Assembly Area

    In this area, the windings are assembled with the magnetic cores, and the terminals, switches, and other accessories are installed to shape the active part of the transformer. In this area, there are qualified operators for the assembly and installation of the equipment elements, using special techniques for the proper handling of the magnetic plate and the adequate distribution of the air gaps of the magnetic core.

  • Metalworking Area

    This area has a variety of specialized machines for the manufacture of transformer tanks. It is in an area of 2,400 square meters, which allows us to have a tank manufacturing line, with ample spaces and isolated from other processes. The tanks are built using Cold Rolled and Hot Rolled steel sheets, with a design that allows them to withstand internal pressure and mechanical stresses. The radiators attached to the tank have a design that contains transverse corrugations, to maximize the heat transfer area, maintaining the internal temperature elevations of the equipment, according to the specified technical requirements. We also have laser cutting technology, which allows us to make high-precision cuts saving materials.

  • Painting Area

    The final assembly of the transformer is carried out in the specialized area, which has a technology that allows the filling of the tank with dielectric oil under vacuum conditions, which guarantees maximum reach and homogeneity, resulting in equipment with high dielectric characteristics. and optimal thermal regulation. This area also has qualified personnel for the installation of the active part inside the transformer tank and for the installation of the bushings and accessories required by the equipment.

  • Final assembly Area

    The final assembly of the transformer is carried out in the specialized area, which has a technology that allows the filling of the tank with dielectric oil under vacuum conditions, which guarantees maximum reach and homogeneity, resulting in equipment with high dielectric characteristics. and optimal thermal regulation.     At Rymel we have a Laboratory equipped with the best equipment, which allows us to maintain and verify the excellent quality of all our products. Once manufactured, all transformers are subjected to the following routine tests in accordance with the NTC, IEC 60076, and IEEE C57.12.90 standards.
    • Measurement of transformation ratio and phase ratio.

    • Measurement of winding resistance

    • Measurement of insulation resistance

    • Measurement of no-load losses and excitation current.

    • Measurement of load losses and short-circuit voltage.

    Type tests and special tests are also carried out at the request of the client.

  • Warehouse Area

    We have a state-of-the-art infrastructure, controlled by a warehouse management system (WMS) that allows us to comprehensively manage warehouse activities, through which it is possible to monitor our inventory levels, location of stocks, and the automation of our tasks, in order to obtain a global view of all our processes.

  • Maintenance Area

    It is an area with more than 40 years of experience, which is focused on the repair and maintenance of our machinery and its development. Projects and assemblies for the manufacture of molds and dies have also been carried out in this area for the metalworking area.

  • Dispatch Area

    In this area, we have specialized software that allows us to systemize our entire process of deliveries and dispatches of our finished products, to have real-time control of all our inventory.

    En esta área contamos con máquinas especializadas para la fabricación de los devanados de los transformadores, que trabajan con conductores en fleje para la fabricación del devanado de baja tensión y con conductores redondos o rectangulares con recubrimientos, para la fabricación de los devanados de alta tensión.
